How does UPSC calculate the age cutoff date for Civil Services?
As per official notification, UPSC calculates eligibility as of 1st August of the examination year. The candidate must have attained 21 years and must not have attained 32 years (for General category) on 1st August.
What is the category relaxation policy for OBC, SC, ST, and PwBD?
In UPSC and SSC examinations, OBC candidates receive +3 years relaxation (up to 35 yrs) and 9 attempts. SC/ST candidates receive +5 years relaxation (up to 37 yrs) with unlimited attempts. PwBD candidates receive 10 years of additional relaxation on top of their base category.
Does NDA or CDS offer age relaxation for OBC/SC/ST candidates?
No. Ministry of Defence guidelines strictly mandate that NDA (16.5 to 19.5 years) and CDS examinations do not grant reservation-based age relaxations.
